| The Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen is a short-legged,
rough-coated hound, developed in the Vendee district
of south-west France. It was bred down from the
Grand Griffon Vendeen. The Petit Basset Griffon
Vendeen has been described as a miniature Basset
reduced proportionately in size while retaining all its
qualities-a passion for hunting, fearlessness in the
densest coverts, and vigor. It is now used for hunting
hare and rabbit, but can also manage larger game.
It works very well in thick undergrowth.
This most attractive animal makes a good family
pet provided that it receives plenty of exercise. It needs
little grooming and considers humans its friends. |
