Miniature Schnauzer

Miniature Schnauzer
The Miniature Schnauzer was derived from crossing the Standard Schnauzer with smaller dogs (probably Affenpinschers). In the US and Canada, the Miniature Schnauzer is classed as a terrier and was at one time the most popular terrier there. In the UK, where it is regarded as a member of the utility group rather than a terrier, it is a popular family pet, and also does well in the obedience and show rings. The Miniature Schnauzer is a delightful small dog that makes an excellent pet and children's companion. Like its larger contemporaries, it needs a fair amount of exercise and its coat should be periodically stripped and plucked. The coat may also be clipped but this will spoil it for the show ring, so it is best to discuss grooming with the breeder at the time of purchase.
