Kooikerhondje

Kooikerhondje
This breed is also known as the Kooiker Dog or Duck- decoy Dog. Its Dutch name means "dog belonging to the Kooiker," the person in charge of the duck decoy. It is a fairly old breed, native to the Netherlands, whose job was to draw ducks out of their cover by walking in and out of low reed fences by the banks of a dyke that was covered with netting. When the ducks investigated, the dyke was closed. The Kooikerhondje is an intelligent, affectionate dog that is lively but not over-excitable. A good companion dog, it is a handy size for a household pet. It needs plenty of exercise and daily brushing.
