| The Komondor was known as early as 1555, and has
been used for centuries to guard flocks and property
from predators and thieves on the Hungarian plains.
Very strong and agile for its size, the Komondor is
hardy, healthy, and tolerant of changing temperatures.
It is a breed that can never be mistaken for any other
because of its full white coat falling in tassels, or
cords, which form a kind of controlled matting that
feels felty to the touch.
The Komondor is a natural protector and will
guard children and other pets with its life if it is cast
in the role of family companion. While it is utterly
devoted to its human family, it is wary of strangers,
does not take kindly to teasing, and if a warning
growl goes unheeded, may attack without warning.
It needs plenty of exercise and meticulous grooming.
